The Guardia di Finanza stopped a man who was carrying 700 liters of beer. It happened at Brenner, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The protagonist of the story is a 67-year-old man from Catania, residing in Germany. The man, as can be seen from the story, has shown that he has a great passion for beer.
In fact, the sixty-seven-year-old was carrying 700 liters of fine German beer brewed in Bamberg when he was stopped at the border by the Guardia di Finanza. Suspicious of the enormous quantities of "blond nectar" transported by man, the agents obviously asked the man the necessary questions. The 67-year-old, in response, stated that the 700 liters of beer had been purchased for "personal consumption" on the occasion of a friend's birthday in Sicily.
Complained for "subtraction from the assessment and payment of excise duty"
In fact, the man was really headed to Sicily, his homeland, with 700 liters of beer. What we don't know is whether he and his friends really would have had the strength to drink them all. Unfortunately, however, we will never know: after the affair, the 700 liters of fine beer were seized by the agents.
This is because - obviously - the justification provided by the man was not convincing enough. Now the sixty-seven-year-old will have to defend himself before the judge because of the complaint for the crime of "subtraction from the assessment and payment of excise duty".
