A South African artist creates his paintings only with used plastic. Here you come ...
Modern artists have invented various and original techniques to express their creativity and art, sometimes in a truly unique way.
South African Mbongeni Buthelezi was no exception and chose to use plastic waste as colors for his paintings. The man, in fact, collects the used plastic, melts it and uses it in his canvases.
According to the artist, using garbage is nothing more than a metaphor for life: it represents the ability to take waste and transform it into something new. It is no coincidence that the subjects of his works often represent the theme of social and environmental issues.
Buthelezi started using plastic several years ago when, during a workshop with a Swiss artist, he noticed how he used plastic in his works of him, but only as a background. So he decided to differentiate himself, starting to use it in all his paintings of him.
