Sometimes the reality of certain episodes that occur surpasses any fantasy, making us reflect, even in a rather bitter way, on the damage that man and his activities can cause on nature. We can only summarize what happened near the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk, a center located about 400 km east of the capital Moscow.
Several local people would have come across groups of stray dogs with a peculiarity that immediately jumped to their eyes. The fur of the animals was bright blue, which is why they couldn't help but share some photos taken of the dogs and notify the local authorities. The story, in a short time, went around the world, and it is not difficult to understand why.
Even though they look like they stepped out of the scene from a sci-fi movie, these blue stray dogs appear to be quite real. Since their photos began to circulate, there have been those who questioned the veracity, but the checks of the experts would have confirmed the singular sighting. The animals were photographed near an old abandoned factory, whose origins date back to the USSR and whose operation continued until 2015.
At Dzerzhinskoye Orgsteklo, in addition to numerous chemicals, plexiglass was also produced. It is not yet clear how the dogs could have taken on that bright color, but one thing seems to be established: the poor animals have come into contact with some residue from the disused chemical plant.
According to Andre Mislivets, the facility's bankruptcy trustee, the strays may have found copper sulfate while roaming the abandoned buildings. A thesis then confirmed by the authorities who are shedding light on the incident, which have precisely described the situation as a result of unused chemicals in which the dogs would have rolled, coming to take on that specific color.
It is certainly surprising that, after years, in a place potentially accessible to all, substances capable of reducing those poor animals to a similar state have remained. The police are investigating the episode and are also gathering the dogs to direct them to specific health checks. All that remains is to hope that this misadventure does not involve anything serious for them.
