A Scottish company has created bulletproof fabric sofas and armchairs. Useful or exaggerated?
The world we live in is becoming increasingly dangerous: terrorist attacks, shootings and increasingly frequent criminal acts make us fear for our safety, even within our homes.
Thus, a Scottish furniture company decided to ride the wave of growing concern to offer a series of original products: bulletproof sofas and armchairs. But wait to turn up your nose, these products can be of real use if we consider that they are aimed at hotels and public places.
The founder Darren Osdin said "The surprise armed attacks are unfortunately more and more frequent, a sofa like this would help to save someone in a dangerous situation".
The sofas and armchairs are covered in high-quality fabric or leather and fitted inside with reinforced panels tested to withstand shots of various calibers, including those fired from an AK-47. It will be safe but it is also very expensive: such a sofa will cost around 6000 euros, with armor plating representing 40% of the total.
